Today's Notes Task 5 pre-production

Today in class we talked about the recce and risk assessment and how to show it on out blog we have to visit different locations and see if they are suitable for us to film in.

when you get the videos of the pitches and feedback you will embed on blogs and write up feedback on them.

  • logistics planning: times, places, equipment and actors.
  • need to do a risk assessment for each location
  • release forms to film in locations and for each actor
  • email in advance if its a place owned by a private company
  • recce: short for reconnaissance, a detailed check for potential locations for any risks.

Final Lip syncing Practice and Conclusion

Conclusion

Working in a Group.
  • Working in a group was easier than working, in my group there is 3 people and each person was in charge of different things, Rochelle was in the video because she was the one that knew the song best and me and Elisa was behind camera making sure it was recording and in focus, and to make sure it was the shot that we wanted, Elisa was also in charge of the music she brought her speakers so that Rochelle could here the music probably so that it would be clear to edit it as well.
Camera and Tri-Pod
  • We had a camera and tri pod tutorial refresh before we started filming this helped us know what settings are best for filming and how to use the cameras like turn the MF and AF on for better videoing we were told to use MF because AF leaves certain images blurry all the way through and would be hard to edit. We were told how to connect the camera with the tripod this was very essential because if the camera was not tight enough it could fall so this would be good information for when we do the real music video. We learnt how to use and work the tri pod how you make it longer adjusting it to what length you want the shot in.
Editing
  • We had to get the SD Card and put it into the computer and get a portable hard drive and put it on there so we can start editing and putting it on premiere pro.
  • When we starting editing we had to first download the track onto the computer so that we can use that to link with the clips that we filmed so that we can put it over the track so it looks like she is lip syncing. Editing was hard because the clips that we filmed some of them wasn't the whole though so we had to match it up with the other tracks so it blends in with the music. matching the video with the song was hard because we didn't do it from the start because we didn't know the words confidently enough to lip sync it so we started half way though the first verse.
  • We added the fade so it looks more finished and so it has the finishing touch in the video, and we didn't want it to finish abruptly.
  • Then we had to export the file into a video and upload it on YouTube and make sure that everything is want we want it to be.

Today's Lesson Final Idea : Came to do (ft. Akon)

In today's lesson as a group we did more research and came to the conclusion that 'came to do' by Chris brown ft. Akon was the best song to do, it went with our case studies and are planning to do a performance based idea for the video, including dancing and two male actors also if possible have a female actress as well because the song is about a guy talking to a girl, so we could make in a narrative form as well as performance. the lyrics are easy to learn if they don't know the song so lyrics won't really be a problem with the actors and some of the girls.

1st Idea

In today's lesson we were planning to this song getting male actors who knew the song to sing it, it is a very easy song to sing and learn it if the person doesn't, we were planning to do a performance based video where dancing will be involved as well, maybe getting in dancers and that have a chorography for the song would be easier if this was the case we could incorporate there dancing in with the track and make into a performance based music video. This song did not have a video which was a bonus because one of the requirements is to make sure the music video is not existing.
Locations we were thinking about was brick lane or a party scene linking to the lyrics and maybe a bedroom or with the actor sitting on the steps with drinks in his hand maybe. As a group we were thinking if the actor had Balenciaga this would be a bonus.

song idea task

Alex Clare - Won't let you down

Summary
  • The idea I have behind this song is a narrative music video showing a story through the song, the song is about man singing about his love of his life, so the idea would be having a male actor lip singing to the song and maybe having a female actor contemporary dance and flashing back to him singing showing his emotions.
  • "it's another grey autumn day your the sun trying to break through" he is expressing his love to her they could meet at the end of the song, basically saying that he won't let her down.

Props
  • Flowers as gift to the girl representing love to the women actor.
  • Chocolates to go with the flowers.
  • Maybe a mirror, he can be lip singing to a mirror practising his emotions and to add emphasise to the video.
  • A ring that reminds him of her, showing his memory with editing could be cutting to the girl dancing as he thinks about her.

Locations
  • A park, him resting on a tree and sitting on a park bench thinking about her, maybe a gloomy day will go with this very well.
  • Brick lane showing the art and with him expressing his feelings it relates to the art.
  • Leyton sixth form college he can sing with a black back drop on.
What makes the promo video different?
  • There is no music video for the song so we could create it on out own style and what we interpret from it.
  • It shows the guys feelings normal it is the female stereotypical singing a slow song about their love but now its male a different point of view so that it comes out in a different way
  • The song can be for a female or male actor so this can be expressed with her dancing but him singing.

Case Study 3 - Analysing a music video

Summary
The video is about a women wanting to be closer to her husband instead of working he should be with her, and he shouldn't be taking over nights instead he should be getting off early and together they can 'work from home'. She wants him take care of her and not leave her at home.
They are building area where his job is and they are singing to him trying to get his attention and listen to them. The song means that all the work his is doing at his job he can put in that work into her and get the same work out of it.
The video is narrative and performance type because they are still telling and it is flowing as each band member is singing and also they have a routine dance to the song this is known as performance style video.
Themes and Motifs
  • They use building equipment to relate to the video of the guy's job, like the tool that make cement, hammers, heavy lifting what man would typically work as this is a bit of stereotyping cause its saying that men only work as builders and do the heavy lifting
  • It is also that women are the distraction because the singers are just walking around them doing there Job and dressing in the work outfit looking like them.

  • Representation of the stars
The representation of the group is to look sexy for the men to come 'work at home', linking to what they are wearing denim shorts so that you can see the shape of their bodies it is also a hot day so you can see the men actors muscles and abs.
Lip syncing is involved through the whole video because they also dancing in the video so this would be hard to do.
They played the track over the filmed clips and edited it in so that it looks professional, the production levels look very good and because they are celebrities this is very key but I need to make sure I add this in my video or try to make it as professions as possible.
